featuring

Dr Grace Musila and Dr Lynda Spencer

Dr Grace Musila and Dr Lynda Spencer the current and outgoing Heads of their respective departments: the Department of African Literature at the University of the Witwatersrand, and the Department of Literary Studies in English at Rhodes University, in South Africa. Between them and in tandem, they are interested in Anglophone African literature, eastern African literary and cultural studies, the interface between genre and gender in African writing, Postcolonial literature and theory, and the epistemological implications of cultural forms. Having obtained UK visas following unjustifiable delays caused by the Home Office, Grace and Lynda are visiting the University of Southampton as equal partners on the AHRCfunded project The Textual Worlds of South-Eastern Africa. Their reading, writing and thinking tastes are impeccable.

Chairs: Toby Litt and Ranka Primorac
